What type of surfboard should I get?
Looking at the size of that surf coupled with your ability I would purchase a mini-mal. Mini-mal surfboards are perfect for people who want to learn how to surf as well as anyone looking to turn those boring, small surf days into some fun. Mini-mals or funboards are the cut down version of the traditional longboard. They also come available cheaply as 'softboards' with a foam top which is good for beginners as it limits the damage you can do to yourself and others and they are generally much cheaper than hand-shaped boards or even pop outs. Head into your local surf shop (if you have one) and have a chat with the people there, they'll point you in the right direction. Buying secondhand boards from websites could leave you with an old damaged board or an inappropriate board for your size/ability. Hope this helps.
