What kind of slow dance songs are good to play at a middle school dance as well as other songs to dance to?

Hey I'm supposed to get a list together for a friend of mine who is going to be the dj at our middle school dance. But he doesn't know what to play and I dont either, I'm more into clical rock and stuff like that. So I dont know the cool music that is in now. Can anyone help us please? That would be so great, and mucho aprecciated. Thanks!
