A womans time of the month.?

ok i know why, i know when it stops , i know about a hysterectomy . my question is where dose the blood come from to perform this bodily act, and once the hysterectomy is done what turns the body off from doing this act. i am not being funny i just want to know , i have 2 young ladies and i want to answer these question for them when they arrive.
