Was the invasion of Iraq mostly a form of revenge for terrorist attacks?

In hindsight, do you think that the invasions into Iraq led by then commander-in-chief GWB, was mostly to get revenge? Since there are all kinds of radical governments all over the World threatening democracy. Sort of a side question: Why was invading Iraq more important, other than for stabilization of important economic markets and to go after Saddam Hussein?
