Is the nuclear meltdown in Japan going to affect the West Coast?

the meltdown has not happened yet but if it does yes. this wont be very harmful because of the distance and the containment vessels. it is going to be harmful to the world because it will change the environment but it hurting the west coast is very unlikely when america dropped the atomic bomb 30% died from falling debris which can be carried through the air but would be mostly diluted by the water in our case. 15–20% died from radiation sickness. some 60,000 japanese people died of radiation poisoning - an average of 8,500 a year. Many of those who survived suffered a lifetime of radiation-related health problems, including cancers. So saying it wasn't that bad when we dropped the atomic bomb would be idiotic, but the west coast being effected would be unlikely and if it would you would be told to evacuate. Hawaii would be hit first and the radiation would be recorded there. so you would have time to evacuate.
